Want An Android Phone? Don’t Choose AT&T

Seems like it was just yesterday that we all were disappointed when we found out that AT&T will use Yahoo Search instead of Google Search in the Moto BackFlip and you will not have the ability to install apps from places other than the Android Market. Well folks, they’ve done it again. The upcoming Dell Aero, a renamed Mini 3, will be locked down as well. Like the Android device that came before it on AT&T, the Aero will not have the ability to install apps from places other than the Android Market. So there are no installing apps from your SD card or the developer’s site on your Aero.

Dell Mini 5 Is Really Huge Phone For AT&T, T-Mobile

When we saw the video of Dell CEO (Michael Dell) demonstrating the Dell Mini 5 to Michael Arrington, it just looked like a pretty awesome Android Tablet. But that’s not all it is – the device also makes calls and will likely be available on contract from AT&T and T-Mobile! The Mini 5 is rumored to have a  5-inch screen, 800×480 resolution, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5MP camera with flash, front facing camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and a 1530mAh battery. It will also likely have a 30-pin connector so it can be docked, also enabling HDMI Video Out. At an estimated price tag of $1,000 I’m not sure how many people will actually bite on this – unless AT&T/TMO offer a substantial subsidy.

HTC Magic is discontinued by Vodafone

Sad news for those of you in the UK, the only Android device currently available for Vadofone is the HTC Tattoo. It was joined by the Magic but it will be discontinued when they are out of stock. Unfortunately, there is no Magic 1.2 like its US counterpart the myTouch 3G 1.2. Vodafone’s Android lineup has taken a huge hit with this news. The X10 and the Nexus One are not far off but for some they cant come soon enough. Maybe HTC will decide to make a refreshed version of the Magic for Vodafone also.
